Fic: Killing Time, Pt 1

For my co-conspirator [livejournal.com profile] akashasheiress , who suggested Seven/Romana fic centring on Romana’s period of captivity under the Daleks established in the audio continuity. Of course, Romana escaped from that in the Six-Evelyn audio The Apocalypse Element, so I’ve had to mess with the continuity a bit! She also suggested doing a version of NuWho S5’s Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone featuring Seven, Ace and Romana instead of Eleven, Amy and River, so I lobbed that kitchen sink in here too, although the end result probably bears little resemblance to the original… Hope you enjoy it, [livejournal.com profile] akashasheiress, because it couldn’t have been written without you! As ever, Doctor Who and its associated copyrights really, really don’t belong to me. The Daleks in particular belong to the Terry Nation estate.

Fic: Huntress

Well, since RTD's decided to render my Romana-in-the-Time War fic obsolete, I thought I'd go for some Romana-in-E-Space instead. After a fashion. I've been wanting to write this for a while and it takes a lot of inspiration from my good buddy Clocketpatch, who has written some great Romana-in-E-Space fic that suggests that, in keeping with the very uncompromising tone of Warrior's Gate, it might not have been all good times and awesomeness as we Romana fans might like to imagine. E-Space is, of course, green and not black. I hope the assumptions of the POV character don't repel you to the point where you can't read this - he's supposed to be an unpleasant piece of work. Lots of references to Warriors' Gate, and the Antonine Killers and their blockade come from the Target novelisation of same by John Lydecker (a pseudonym for Stephen Gallagher), although I've kind of added my own spin on it all. As ever, Doctor Who and its characters and copyrights definitely do not belong to me.

Fic: Incident in a Parisian Cafe

Okay, so Romana/Duggan; not a ship I've ever particularly cared for, or even believed in (okay, they share a couple of glances, but you could interpret those either way and she is generally snootily patronising towards him most of the time). However, when the plot bunnies come knocking... Blame [livejournal.com profile] primsong; she made me write this. Anyway, Doctor Who, City of Death and indeed James Bond do not belong to me, but rather to their individual owners. I feel sort of dirty and ashamed, now...I think I'm probably going to some special circle of hell now....

Fic: In the Moment

Well, I won't lie to you, folks; I was in the mood for a bit of shameless Four/Romana love - here's hoping you are too! This sort of straddles the gap between Season 17, which to my mind was all about having fun and holidaying around the cosmos, and Season 18, which is all about getting old and waiting for the other shoe to drop. And some random Doctor origin-story stuff for the hell of it. Obviously, I do not own Doctor Who or any of the characters or concepts connected to it; that is very much the BBC's prerogative.

Fic: Doctor Who and the Temple of Chrysogonax, or; The Quatermain Xpedition

Act Three

It's been a while, I know! This one seems to take ages to write, though; I'm not very good at coming up at jokes in a hurry, and then there are those musical numbers (I didn't even manage to do a full one for this part, just a couple of verses)... At this rate, it should be finished by about 2012. Not much plot here as opposed to Four and Romana being silly, but I felt like some silliness after that angsty Seven fic I just finished, and isn't that part of the charm of Season 17? I worry that I make the Sontarans look like dopes here; they have enough credibility problems as it is! Anyway, hope you enjoy; next on my to-do list is some more of Battlelines; I want to put that one to bed in the not too distant future too (you know, before I retire!).

Fic: Two Roads Diverged in a Yellow Wood

So, I was sitting down this morning to write some fic (in between watching the Grand National - my donkey didn't even finish! - and the footy). I swear that I was trying to write the next part of Battlelines; I swear. However, instead I wrote this, straight off the bat, more or less in one sitting (which is unusual for me).

You see, I've been thinking about some of the stuff I’ve written about the Time War and Romana’s part in it. And more particularly, about my own feeling that in some sense I may have wussed out a little in ignoring some of the more difficult strands of continuity in the novels and audios, in particular the whole issue of Romana III and the hardening of her relationship with the Doctor. So this grew out of that; maybe it’s an apologia, maybe just an effort to organise my thoughts on the matter. I borrow some elements here from the Eighth Doctor novels, although it isn’t set in that version of continuity, and from Lawrence Miles’s Faction Paradox universe, and must also acknowledge a debt to my good buddy [info]clocketpatch, whose fic about Romana in E-Space got me thinking on some of this stuff again. Anyway, here it is; as always, Doctor Who and its concepts belong to the BBC and to their individual creators; in particular, the Daleks belong to the Terry Nation estate:

Part the Third:

www.whofic.com/viewstory.php

Without going overboard, I can't say what a relief it is to actually write a proper bit of fic after my barren couple of weeks; I sat down with a couple of beers and my iPod and it just came pouring out. Thank the Lordy... Now, as to how good it actually is, I leave that up to you.

Thanks also to[info]lost_spook and [info]akashasheiress for their vital input on a crucially important point; you know the bit I'm talking about. :)

Drabblefic: Nemesis

Warriors’ Gate is, for a variety of reasons, one of my very favourite Who stories; reason enough by itself not to write off Season 18 as the beginning of the end (and there are other reasons, to be sure). So, a drabble inspired by that great story, and by my good buddy Clocketpatch’s fictional meditations upon it. Obviously Doctor Who and its associated copyrights are the property of the BBC and of their individual creators.

Fic: Dancing

Well, I blame community.livejournal.com/calufrax/ for stoking up my innate Four/Romana shippiness with their reckless and inflammatory recommendations of various fine examples of said ship during the course of the past week. I also have had this idea about Four/Romana "dancing" together (either literally or in the Stephen Moffat sense) for some time now, from where I came by it I could not say. So, even though I have WIPs in progress, I wrote this instead. It maybe gets a bit racy, but rest assured I bottled out when it came to portraying, er...actual physical relations. Feedback etc. always welcome. As always, while it would certainly be nice and possibly financially rewarding were I to own Doctor Who and its associated properties, alas I do not; they very definitely belong to the BBC:

Fic: Doctor Who and the Temple of Chrysogonax, or; The Quatermain Xpedition

So, there I was trying to fight off a ravening horde of Liz Shaw and the Cybermen-related plot bunnies, and I decided to be conscientious about one of my WIPs. I posted the first chapter of this on the Teaspoon back in, like, October or something, and have had the second one lying around half-finished ever since. So, I finished it (the chapter, not the story!), and here it is:

www.whofic.com/viewstory.php

If the third chapter takes the same length of time to complete, it should be up in about June!

I'll admit it's all a little bit Season 17 silly, with Four and Romana II reminiscing about a recent adventure on some back-of-beyond planet, featuring a group of none-too-bright jungle explorers, hostile alien natives and a bunch of annoyed Sontarans-on-a-mission, while at the same time watching a theatrical version of said adventure as dramatised by none other than Messrs Litefoot and Jago, the toasts of London's theatreland cira 1899. So, you can't say I didn't warn you up front...
