So, er, I was trying to write one fic and ended up writing a completely different one instead. By accident. Don't tell me that has never happened to any of you.

Title: Cold Dreaming
Rating: Teen
Characters/Pairings: Madame Vastra/Jenny, various OC Silurians, Strax gets a mention because he's Strax
Warnings: Bloody swordfighting-related violence
Summary: In the cold and dark, she dreams. A possible Madame Vastra origin story.
Word count: 7,664
Notes: So, I kind of wrote this by "accident" while blocking on another fic. It's the longest fic I've written in quite a long time, and flowed pretty freely however, so I just kind of went with it. Mainly, this is indulging my personal obsessions with feathered dinosaurs, unilaterally retconning Silurian dating to coincide with the actual K-T extinction event and gratuitous swordplay. Basically, I think if Madame Vastra is going to tote that weapon around she should make more use of it. There is, however, some Vastra/Jenny towards the end. And some pretty gory violence along the way, so yeah. As ever, Doctor Who and the various characters and copyrights attached to it most definitely do not belong to me!

who_at_50 comm (yeah, I know, 900+ words is stretching any sane definition of "Flash"...). And something I've thought about for a while - none of the various endings offered to Seven and Ace in the various "expanded universe" continuities really satisfy me, and most of them have in any case been somewhat Jossed by the throwaway reference in the SJA episode The Death of the Doctor. I like to think, though, that however they parted in the end would be more Warriors' Gate than The Angels Take Manhattan. This is one possible version.

Well, I hadn't until I ran across it this evening. I liked it very much, and wish the scene had made it into the televised story; might have made me feel a bit easier about the ending

It leaves me in a slight quandary, however. On the one hand, I think this is now my personal "fanon", as of the moment I saw it. On the other, it invalidates a central plank of the story I was already starting to write for the Eleven/Romana ficathon. Ah, well.

Hello there. Just to say - I've finally decided on a subject for the 100 Things challenge I signed up to back in April, and plan to start posting very soon. After toying with a couple of ideas (I've got a couple of half-finished meta things about Doctor Who that I might post on here anyway if I ever complete them), I've decided to go with something a bit different.

100 Things I've Taken Photos Of...!

Because I recently sorted out a few years worth of photographs I've taken on various daytrips/escapades/one honest-to-gawd holiday going back to 2007, and I thought some of them might be interesting. Quite a lot from various (mainly military) museums and at least one zoo, as well as a couple of Welsh castles and bits of English and Welsh countryside. And I'll no doubt spin various personal anecdotes and/or witty, erudite (?!) yarns about the things in the pictures as and when seems appropriate.

So watch this space.

But here we are once again, with Four and Romana and Sontarans and songs too! Although things take a slightly darker turn here as "the enemy" finally turns up to the party...

Again, possibly a tad too much "aww, my mostly-OC characters, it's been too long..." and less moving the story forward, but still. As far as I can make out, the idea of the Bermuda Triangle wasn't really invented until the 1950s, so Lydia is a bit vague about it here, and we know the Mary Celeste was down to either time-travelling Daleks or Sapphire & Steel so take your pick. As for Harriet's diehard support for the WW1 war effort, it's the main thing I take away from her minute or so of screen time - she certainly seemed very keen on Field Marshal Haig anyway.
