"No, Not the Mind Probe!!?!"

I'm glad it came across all right. I'm often worried about the lack of clarity in my own writing. The thing is, RTD an co have created this Doctor who's some sort of Ideal Man and demigod to his companions; the one whom they'll have us believe Sarah Jane put her life on hold for and who has River Song waxing poetically in the middle of a life-or-death struggle. In other words, he, as a Man, has become the Reason rather than the doors that he opens. I guess in a way it's understandable for a human to describe him as ''Fire and ice etc etc'' because, really, how many semi-immortal Time Traveling evil-fighting aliens would they know (I think they'd see Romana the same way)? So it follows that the companion who probably wouldn't idealise him like that would be Romana. I think it's obvious that she loves and trusts him completely, but she's never been shown to venerate him or consider him even close to perfect. I can totally see what you mean, though; at the moment of your fic she's doing something that she wishes she didn't have to do and is affected emotionally by it. I don't consider crying to be a sign of weakness.
