The Resistance is Futile meme, stolen from [info]lost_spook:

"Post below with 'Resistance is futile' to receive your own customized five question meme to answer.
Then repeat on your own journal and watch the meme-y-ness spread. As it does. "

1. Given one trip back in time, where would you go? (Assuming you can get back again, of course).

This is quite difficult, because quite a lot of things I'd be interested in seeing would be things I'd be quite likely not to survive... I'd like to go back to the Middle Ages, sometime in the 12th century, actually; I think I'd like to meet Henry II and his family and find out if they really were as monstrous/backstabbing/amusing as they were in The Lion in Winter.  I'm sure Eleanor of Aquitaine was an absolute riot...

2. Are you a desk spook or field officer?

Oh, desk man, definitely. I'm one of those chaps with the briefcases and umbrellas who'd "blow" you to the Russians or somebody for some minor political advantage and then try to tell you there was nothing personal about it, old chap; just business. ;D

3. Which would Doctor would you actually want to travel with? (As opposed to who's your favourite).

Oh, Four; he was always on holiday and went to the best places! He was a bit irascible at times, sure, but funny with it, and I'm practically certain he wouldn't involve you as an unwitting pawn in some carefully laid scheme, unlike some Doctors we could mention. I'm sure we'd have some great arguments and stop in at lots of quaint little boozers on out of the way planets and stuff. Plus, I'd love to get patronised by K9 or Romana, or possibly both at once! If not Four, Two, but he was a bit of a pawn manipulator at times himself...

4. Do you have any irrational fears?

Heights. Or Depths, as Rincewind used to say. Seriously, it's a purely irrational thing, but completely involuntary. I can't go anywhere near an edge (or even something like a glass-enclosed staircase) without getting all sweaty and nervous even when I know perfectly well there's no chance of me falling down it. I'm perfectly fine flying, though. Go figure.

5. What's your favourite children's book?

Maybe more young adult, as they call them, but The Cats of Seroster by Robert Westall (him that wrote The Machine Gunners). I've reread it more times than I care to try and count; basically, it's a sort of alternate history/fantasy, but I've come to appreciate it even more the older I get, because not only is it very compassionate and humane in an almost Doctor Who like way, but its medieval period detail is just brilliant; very authentic in a way that practically no "medievaloid" fantasy actually is.
