Carry On Up The Jungle, Doctor!

Fic: Doctor Who and the Temple of Chrysogonax, or; The Quatermain Xpedition

So, there I was trying to fight off a ravening horde of Liz Shaw and the Cybermen-related plot bunnies, and I decided to be conscientious about one of my WIPs. I posted the first chapter of this on the Teaspoon back in, like, October or something, and have had the second one lying around half-finished ever since. So, I finished it (the chapter, not the story!), and here it is:

If the third chapter takes the same length of time to complete, it should be up in about June!

I'll admit it's all a little bit Season 17 silly, with Four and Romana II reminiscing about a recent adventure on some back-of-beyond planet, featuring a group of none-too-bright jungle explorers, hostile alien natives and a bunch of annoyed Sontarans-on-a-mission, while at the same time watching a theatrical version of said adventure as dramatised by none other than Messrs Litefoot and Jago, the toasts of London's theatreland cira 1899. So, you can't say I didn't warn you up front...

Hey, S17 silly is the best kind of silly! Looking forward to further Four/Romana hijinx.

Ah, I only say that because I love it! It is, as you point out, the good kind of silly. :)

Brilliant! You'd better not take too long with it, you know. Otherwise I shall... *thinks hard* set comedy plot bunnies on you. (I have lots running wild round here.) ;-)

Yeah, I still can't get that Genesis/Lt Gruber thing out of my head either...

Heh heh heh. (That was my evil laugh. I note this, as it's hard to tell). Yes, you have the Genesis/Allo Allo crossover. I'll fight off my own plot bunnies!! ;-) (As long as you still write some more of this).

I'll see it through to the end, eventually; I can't make promises about schedules, because, well... I've got so many things I want to start, or continue. I realise it's terribly undisciplined not to stick to one thing until it's finished, but it's fanfic, it's supposed to be fun!!! (I keep telling myself as I whimper over my keyboard trying to get the Brig and Bambera thing back on the go while resisting the urge to write something about Four and Romana dancing the Tango. And I don't even know anything about Tango dancing...). And to think my new year's resolution was to finally write my original SF story I've been tinkering with for years.

I want to finish it if only so I can write some actual Sontaran/Rutan combat scenes, because I think they need to be done. :) And I want to have more songs in it, and that deranged Sontaran number took about a week to write, all by itself; rhyming stuff=not my strong suit.

OMG, yes. With innuendo!

wait, wait, does this mean there's another installment on Jagp and Litefoot's play? *perks up and is happy*

I don't have time to read at the moment, but this is ~definitely~ cause for a celebratory jig, probably to the tune of dum dee dum dee dum... Oooo eeee oooo...

With singing Sontarans! Well, kind of.
